Dimitrios has spent his career both on the “legal side” as a General Counsel, and on the “business side” as a CEO of a public company, thereby allowing him the breadth of experience to better understand the value of sound legal advice together with good business judgment.

The majority of Dimitrios’ time has been in the life sciences advising on a broad spectrum of matters. This includes drafting a wide range of contracts, conducting negotiations, running cross-border transactions, mergers and acquisitions, advising on securities law, global patent strategy, litigation strategy, compliance, employment law, initial public offerings, private placements, and real estate matters.

Dimitrios has advised clients at every stage of their development including the start-up stage, raising private and public capital, doing roadshows, the IPO, managing investor relations, preparing for a sale, and negotiating the sale of companies.

Dimitrios currently sits on three public company boards and advises clients in ways that highlight the culmination of his broad legal experiences and his unique executive officer posts. Common sense, good judgment and the ability to negotiate exceptionally well underline the valuable advice Dimitrios gives.

Antoaneta Tarpanova “Toni” is passionate about working with individuals who believe in scientific progress and its ability to improve peoples’ lives. Toni is a patent attorney with a background in Chemistry and experience in commercial litigation.

She holds degrees in continental and common law, which helps her successfully represent domestic and foreign clients. Toni received her Maîtrise de Droit des Affaire from Robert Schumann University in Strasbourg, France and has studied as an exchange student in London School of Economics and Political Sciences in London, UK. She also holds an L.L.M. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Toni is Fluent in French and Bulgarian and has a working knowledge of Russian and Macedonian.

Padmaja Chinta

Padmaja Chinta is an experienced intellectual property attorney and trial lawyer.  Paddy has counseled clients on all aspects of intellectual property with an emphasis on litigation.  She has extensively litigated cases in federal courts from inception of suit through trial and appeal.  Her cases span a broad spectrum of technologies with a particular focus on the Tech field and Hatch-Waxman ANDA litigation.  The products involved in her cases range from video games, IoT devices, data compressors, televisions, and car air bag controllers to pain medications, cancer drugs, and medical devices.  She has obtained significant victories in claim constructions, summary judgment, pre-trial, and §101 motions to dismiss for her clients.  She has successfully defended patents in IPR proceedings before the Patent Board. She has also represented clients in arbitration, trademark, copyright, contract, and antitrust litigation.

In addition, Paddy has counseled clients on pre-suit investigations, product launches, and business strategies for pipeline products.  Paddy has negotiated license deals involving products with hundreds of millions in revenue.  She has prepared infringement and validity opinions of counsel.  She is also experienced in procurement of patents and trademarks from the U.S. Patent Office.  Paddy’s clients have ranged from multinational corporations to small start-ups and select individuals.

Paddy started her career and practiced for several years at Fish & Neave (subsequently part of Ropes & Gray), one of the premier intellectual property firms in the country.  She also gained valuable business perspective having been senior in-house counsel for Teva Pharmaceuticals, the largest generic drug company in the world.  This unique experience equips Paddy to provide practical and results-oriented solutions to her clients.

Prior to her legal career, she was a marketing executive for Bausch & Lomb and practiced as an optometrist. Paddy obtained her Masters in Law from the University of Pennsylvania Law School where she was President of the LL.M. Association.

Paddy was selected to Law360’s Voices of the Bar as one of 50 IP experts in the U.S. She is a New York Super Lawyer and recipient of 2017 International Advisory Experts Award for IP Lawyer of the Year in New York, Finance Monthly Global Award 2016 for Litigation and Corporate LiveWire Global 2016 Award for Pharmaceutical Patent Litigation. Paddy resides in New Jersey where she is an active volunteer in community activities.

Francelina Perdomo

Francelina “Fran” Perdomo is a passionate ally of the creative entrepreneur. Fully versed in domestic and international business models she can navigate the complex twists and turns of any commercial arena, be it in the U.S.A. or overseas. Fran is an expert in all aspects of Corporate, Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law, a savvy entrepreneur herself she understands the challenges of developing and growing a business, adding a unique perspective to any organization she is helping develop.

A seasoned practitioner in the areas of corporate law, contract negotiation, and IP, she brings all her expertise to bear helping her clients in negotiations, the creation of strategic partnerships and the development of brands and sponsorship deals.

She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Universidad Iberoamericana (Unibe), where she received a Doctor en Derecho Degree (J.D. Equivalent). She also holds an LL.M from Cornell University Law School, and a Certificat in Droit Compare from Universite De Paris I, Pantheon Sorbonne. Fran is fluent in Spanish, lending a decidedly multi-cultural approach to U.S. and international clients. James Demers

James Demers

James Demers is a patent attorney with substantial experience representing a wide range of clients. Prior to entering the legal profession, Dr. Demers was continuously involved in laboratory research for about twenty-six years (1971 – 1997), beginning with the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program at M.I.T.

His professional scientific career included graduate and post-doctoral work in academia, and over a decade as a medicinal chemist in the pharmaceutical industry. Jim concentrates on patent drafting, patent prosecution, and patent opinion work. Jim works in all areas of technology and has successfully represented inventors in many complex and challenging cases. He has special expertise dealing with US, PCT, and EPO practices in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and mechanical arts, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and solid state devices. He is experienced in preparing opinions of counsel regarding infringement, validity, and freedom to operate.

Dr. Demers has a B.S. in Chemistry from M.I.T. and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Stanford University, and an M.S. in Management of Technology from Polytechnic University. He received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.

Peter L. Berger

Of Counsel

Peter L. Berger graduated from the City College of New York with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He received his law degree with honors from George Washington University in 1966. He was Patent Editor of the Law Review and he was a member of the Order of the Coif. Mr. Berger was a Patent Examiner in the computers division of The United States Patent Office from 1963-1966, and he was a patent attorney for Bell Telephone Laboratories from 1966-1968. He entered private practice in 1968. Mr. Berger is experienced in all phases of intellectual property practice, including patent, trademark and copyright matters and litigation. Mr. Berger taught patent law as an Adjunct Professor at Seton Hall Law School from 1978-1983, and at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law from 1983-2000. He is a regular contributor to jewelry trade media services.
